When the locust swarms in Africa combine they can span 40 miles. They devour every visible piece of vegetation as the plague is seemingly in constant movement. They are straight out of the Bible except that they aren’t. It’s nature. Fucking disturbing. The buzzing and humming is enough to rip my ears off and bury myself alive to escape their wrath.
We have arrived here with cable boxes and vintage radios that are just for show. (Who can stand to see the wires strung carelessly in different directions?) The Chandelier Ballroom is gorgeous and there is no need for electricity once we’re inside it. Light exists here without drawing any energy from the sun. I smashed the camera because what’s happened is worse than what can happen. The stress of each isn’t worth ruining right now.
